This section will provide you with information regarding the European elections in 2024, including voting procedures and deadlines for registration, if you are an EU citizen who lives outside the European Union or in another EU country. If your country allows it, you can vote for candidates from your own country. You also have the option to vote for candidates in the EU country you live in.

To vote in the European elections, a voter must:
- be a Luxembourgish citizen or a national of another EU country;
- be at least 18 years of age on the day of the elections;
- enjoy civil rights and not have been deprived of the right to vote either in Luxembourg or in their home country;
- for Luxembourg nationals, reside in Luxembourg (Luxembourgish citizens residing abroad may vote in the European elections by postal vote);
- for nationals of another EU country, be domiciled in Luxembourg and have resided there at the time of the application for registration on the electoral roll.
The following persons are excluded from the electorate and are not allowed to vote:
- individuals who have been convicted of criminal offences;
- people who, for lesser offences, have been stripped of the right to vote following a conviction.

Luxembourgish citizen voting in Luxembourg
You vote at the polling station of the commune where you live. The address of the polling station is mentioned on the voting convocation that they receive before the elections.EU-citizen voting in Luxembourg
Non-Luxembourg citizens who are European nationals can vote in the European elections in Luxembourg. If they wish to participate in the European elections in Luxembourg for the first time, these citizens must apply for registration on the electoral roll at their commune of residence before the 55th day preceding the elections.
You can register at your commune or via the website "MyGuichet.lu".Luxembourgish citizen voting from abroad
You will have to register between 12 weeks and 40 days before the vote in order to be able to vote from another country. In order to vote by post, citizens need to request to do so at the commune where they are registered on the electoral roll. The request to vote by post must be received at the commune at the earliest 12 weeks and at the latest 40 days before the voting day, in order for the citizen to receive the convocation letter at their address abroad. The request can be submitted online via MyGuichet.lu or by mail (letter or pre-filled form).
