The European elections take place in Estonia on on 3-9 June 2024. Estonian citizens and citizens of other EU countries residing in Estonia aged 18 or over can cast a vote. It is also possible to vote online or abroad if certain conditions are met.

The address has been copied to your clipboard.Under EU law, all countries shall use a voting system that ensures proportional representation, which means that the number of elected members from each party depends on the share of electoral votes obtained by the party. The Estonian election system uses open lists at the European Parliament elections. The candidates are re-ranked in the list of the political party according to the number of votes cast for each candidate. In the re-ranked list of the political party, the mandate is given to the candidate who is further towards the top of the list.

The National Electoral Committee registers candidates at the latest on the 40th day before the election day. You will find a complete list of all candidates on their website once the National Electoral Committee has registered the candidates. The nomination of candidates will begin on 10 April 2024 and end on 20 April 2024.

If you have an address of residence in Estonia, you don’t need to register in advance. This is done automatically by the authorities. However, if you have changed your home address recently, we advise you to check with the population register (in Estonian) whether your residential address entered in the population register is correct.
