How to vote in Greece

Political parties must gather at least 3% of the vote to be able to elect an MEP.

The Greek territory constitutes a single electoral district for the election of the Members of the European Parliament. The political parties therefore propose uniform ballots for the whole country.

Voting is compulsory, but exemptions are foreseen for those above 70 years of age and for voters who are abroad.

In Greece, the right to vote in the European elections is available to those who:

1. They turn 17 in the year of the elections (so those born before 31 December 2007)
2. They are either Greek citizens or citizens of an EU country with legal residence in Greece

Those who wish to make use of the newly instituted possibility to participate in the elections by postal vote need to be registered in the special postal vote electoral rolls via the Ministry of Interior's online platform (in Greek) by 29 April 2024.

As a voter with a disability, you vote in person as an absolute priority. The electoral commissions are requested to facilitate you with every appropriate measure, while there is a specially designed area in each polling station. An accompanying voter is allowed at the screen, upon assessment by the president of the electoral commission of the polling station, under their responsibility and in their presence. A dog companion is also allowed. You can also exercise your right to vote by post.
